David Crosby - If I Could Only Remember My Name (1971)

David Van Cortlandt Crosby (born August 14, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Crosby joined the Byrds in 1964. The band gave Bob Dylan his first number one hit in April 1965 with "Mr. Tambourine Man." Crosby appeared on the Byrds' first five albums, and produced the original lineup's 1973 reunion album. In 1967 he joined Buffalo Springfieldon stage at the Monterey Pop Festival, which contributed to his dismissal from the Byrds. He subsequently formed Crosby, Stills & Nashin 1968 with Stephen Stills (of Buffalo Springfield) and Graham Nash of the Hollies. After the release of their debut album CSN won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist of 1969. Neil Young joined the group for live appearances, their second concert being Woodstock, before recording their second album Déjà Vu. Meant to be a group that could collaborate freely, Crosby and Nash recorded three gold albums in the 1970s, while the core trio of CSN remained active from 1976 until 2016. CSNY reunions took place in each decade from the 1970s through the 2000s.

If I Could Only Remember My Name is the debut solo album by David Crosby, released in February 1971 on Atlantic Records. It was one of four high-profile albums released by each member of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in the wake of their chart-topping Déjà Vualbum (along with Stephen Stills, Songs for Beginners, and After the Gold Rush). It peaked at #12 on the Billboard 200 and earned a RIAA gold certification for selling over 500,000 copies in the United States.

The album gained new recognition in 2010 when it was listed second on the "Top 10 Pop Albums of All Time" as published in the Vatican City newspaper L'Osservatore Romano

Stephen Ray Vaughan- In Step (1989)

Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, and one of the most influential guitarists in the revival of blues in the 1980s. He is commonly referred to as one of the greatest guitar players of all time.

Vaughan was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He began playing guitar at the age of seven, inspired by his older brother Jimmie. He dropped out of high school in 1971 and moved to Austin the following year. He played gigs with numerous bands, earning a spot in Marc Benno's band the Nightcrawlers and later with Denny Freeman in the Cobras, with whom he continued to work through late 1977. He then formed his own group Triple Threat Revue, but he renamed them Double Trouble after hiring drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. He gained fame after his performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982, and his debut studio album Texas Flood charted at number 38 in 1983, a commercially successful release that sold over half a million copies. Vaughan headlined concert tours with Jeff Beck in 1989 and Joe Cocker in 1990. He died in a helicopter crash on August 27, 1990 at the age of 35.

Vaughan received several music awards during his lifetime and posthumously. In 1983, readers of Guitar Player voted him Best New Talent and Best Electric Blues Guitar Player. In 1984, the Blues Foundation named him Entertainer of the Year and Blues Instrumentalist of the Year, and in 1987, Performance Magazine honored him with Rhythm and Blues Act of the Year. He won six Grammy Awards and ten Austin Music Awards and was inducted posthumously into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2014. Rolling Stone ranked him as the 12th greatest guitarist of all time.[2] In 2015, Vaughan and Double Trouble were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

In Step
is the fourth studio album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble released in 1989. The title In Step can be seen as referring to Vaughan's new-found sobriety, following the years of drug and alcohol use that eventually led Vaughan into rehabilitation. It was also Vaughan's final album with Double Trouble. In 1990, he recorded a collaboration album with his brother, Jimmie Vaughan, called Family Style; later that year, Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash.

The album received universal acclaim. Critics called it Vaughan’s best album, with some even saying it was one of the best albums of the year. It received praise for solidifying Vaughan’s unique style, his consistent songwriting, and his clean and sweet sounding guitar playing, while some criticized it for some songs (mainly Tightrope and Wall of Denial) sounding too personal, and too unrelatable to the general public.

Marianne Faithfull - Dangerous Acquaintances (1981)

Marianne Evelyn Gabriel Faithfull
(born 29 December 1946) is an English singer, songwriter, and actress. She achieved popularity in the 1960s with the release of her hit single "As Tears Go By" and became one of the lead female artists during the British Invasion in the United States.

Dangerous Acquaintances
is the eighth studio album by English singer Marianne Faithfull. It was released on 1 September 1981 by Island Records. The album was seen by reviewers as a disappointing follow-up to Faithfull's Broken English, as the album trades the angry and controversial alternative new wave arrangements of the previous one for a more mainstream rock texture, using over a dozen session musicians and, for some, giving a certain anonymous feel to the songs. The title is a reference to the Pierre Choderlos de Laclos 1782 novel Les Liaisons dangereuses.

The main singles of the album were "Intrigue", penned by the singer's then-husband, Ben Brierley, and "For Beauty's Sake", written by Faithfull and Steve Winwood.

Bob Marley And The Wailers - Catch A Fire (1973)

Bob Marley and the Wailers
were a Jamaican reggae band led by Bob Marley. It developed from the earlier ska vocal group, the Wailers, created by Marley with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer in 1963. By late 1963 singers Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith had joined on. By the early 1970s, Marley and Bunny Wailer had learned to play some instruments and brothers Aston "Family Man" Barrett (bass) and Carlton Barrett (drums), had joined the band. After Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh left the band in 1974, Marley began touring with new band members. His new backing band included the Barrett brothers, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wya" Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson on percussion. The "I Threes", consisting of Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths, and Marley's wife, Rita, provided backing vocals.

Renaissance - Illusion (U.k classic prog 1971)

Renaissance
are an English progressive rock band, best known for their 1978 UK top 10 hit "Northern Lights" and progressive rock classics like "Carpet of the Sun", "Mother Russia", and "Ashes Are Burning". They developed a unique sound, combining a female lead vocal with a fusion of classical, folk, rock, and jazz influences.[1] Characteristic elements of the Renaissance sound are Annie Haslam's wide vocal range, prominent piano accompaniment, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser, and versatile drum work. The band created a significant following in the northeast United States in the 1970s, and that region remains their strongest fan base.

Illusion
is the second studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 1971. It was originally released only in Germany and did not receive a wider release until 1973.[2] It was first released in the UK in 1977, with a cover that had the original front and rear cover artwork swappe

Hypnos 69 - Legacy (2010)

History

The history of Hypnos 69 began at the end of the '80s, when Steve and Dave Houtmeyers played in a political punk oriented band called Massagraf. The band had several line-ups, although Steve and Dave were the only steady members. They released one 7" EP in 1992 and split up that same year. At that time Steve was active with Belgian grindcore pioneers Agathocles (band). Agathocles and Dave started anarcho punk band Intestinal Disease. Both bands toured Europe and South America.[citation needed] By 1994 Steve Houtmeyers decided to quit Agathocles and form his own, more '70s rock oriented band called Starfall. It included Dave Houtmeyers on drums and Tom Vanlaer on bass. By 1995 after doing some local shows, they changed their name to Hypnos 69.

In 2000 the first Hypnos 69 release appeared on the Belgian RocknRollRadio record label entitled Wherever Time has shared it's Trust" on blue 10" EP vinyl. The first full-length CD appeared also on RocknRollRadio in 2002 entitled Timeline Traveller and contains bad ass heavy '70s rock. The band toured with this CD in Germany, The Netherlands, France and Czech Republic.

When the band presented their second full CD Promise of a New Moon on R³ in 2003, Steven Marx was introduced into Hypnos. From being a guest musician he rapidly became a part of the live-set and a new member of the band.

In October 2004 the band decided to make a deal with the German record label ElektroHasch. Their third full CD The Intrigue of Perception, along with a split 10" EP with Germany's Colour Haze was released in November 2004.

In 2006, after extended touring in Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy, the band recorded The Eclectic Measure. The artwork was done by Italian graphic artists Malleus. By November 2006, the band was on hold, due to some personal issues in the band, but after six months decided to tour again. In Autumn 2007 Hypnos 69 toured to promote The Eclectic Measure throughout Europe.
