Amebix - Arise! (1985)

Amebix are considered one of the first - if not, the first - crust punk band and innovated the "gritty" sound of crust punk. The band, led by vocalist / bassist The Baron and guitarist Stig, formed at the tail end of 1978 originally dubbed The Band with No Name. One of these formative tracks, 'University Challenged', turned up on the renowned compilation album 'Bullshit Detector 1'.

A series of line up fluxes eventually saw keyboard player Norman being enrolled in 1981 as the group relocated to Bristol. Another inductee would be drummer Virus from local act Disorder and in this incarnation Amebix signed to Spiderleg Records issuing three EPs.

More line up changes, saw Amebix making do as a trio for a tour of Italy before the quickfire changes in the keyboard department settled when George came in during November of 1984 for dates in Holland, replacing Jenghiz on Synth/Keyboards.

Spider Arachno Blaster replaced Virus as drummer as Amebix signed to Alternative Tentacles for the 1985 album 'Arise'. Sophomore effort 'Monolith' arrived on the Wolverhampton Heavy Metal label but the band folded in late 1987. Spider, George and Stig stuck together to forge Zygote. In later years Spider would be found in Muckspreader. According to some reports The Baron went on to live on the Isle of Skye manufacturing swords(!).

Genre:Crust Punk/Thrash Metal

The Darkest Hour

My friend the time has come for us to say goodbye
So with these parting words I bid you fond farewell
It seems the life we led was just a shameful lie
What does the future hold? Well only time will tell

I'm not scared of dying and I don't really care
If it's peace you find in dying well then let my time be near
If it's peace you find in dying when dying time is here
Bundle up my coffin, 'cos it's cold way down there

And when I'm dead
And when I'm gone
There'll be one child born
And a world to carry on

Some say our fate is sealed and help to tie the knot
Some say that this may be the lull before the storm
But there's one piece of nature everyone's forgot
And that's, "The darkest hour is always before the dawn!"

When the candle burns low
When there's no more to say
Dig me a hole
Where my body might lay

Trapeze - Trapeze (1970)

Trapeze were an English rock band formed in March 1969, by vocalist John Jones and guitarist/keyboardist Terry Rowley (who named the band), with guitarist Mel Galley, singer/bassist Glenn Hughes, and drummer Dave Holland. The band had a fairly fluid line up, finally dissolving in 1994. Several members went on to join better known bands, includingDeep Purple, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, and Uriah Heep.

The core and most familiar line-up of the band was Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley, and Dave Holland. After Glenn Hughes' departure in June 1973, Galley and Holland kept the band together with constantly varying members until 1979, when Holland went on to join Judas Priest. Holland tried to revive the band in 1990, after leaving Priest, but the band finally broke up in 1994. Their first three albums remain their best known and most commercially successful.

Stoned Circus - Revisited 1970

Stoned Circus were a fine hippie quintet with male-female vocals in the Jefferson Airplane mould. They recorded their only album, on 4th September 1970 at Cavern Sound Studios, Missouri and were originally from Independence (Harry Truman's birthplace). This is the same studio where The Wizards From Kansas and Burlington Express laid down their first tracks. The album, which remained unissued until 1994, contains an excellent cover version of the traditional Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.

Kamelot - 1995 - Eternity

In the legends of King Arthur, Camelot is the capital of his kingdom. Truth, goodness and beauty reigned there.

Mark Vanderbildt and co-founder Richard Warner departed as the band was growing in stature in 1997 as they were unable to tour. Casey Grillo was swiftly brought in, but finding a vocalist proved more difficult. Kamelot then picked up on Roy Khan. To make Roy prove himself, he had to go skydiving with the band.

David Pavlicko left soon after "Siege Perilous". One of the band's new producers, Miro, filled in on a studio basis, while a succession of guests were used in the live environment until Oliver Palotaijoined as a permanent member on "The Black Halo" tour.

Glenn Barry stepped down from his role in Kamelot in late 2009 due to family commitments. He had sat out most of the band's touring since 2006, with founding member Sean Tibbetts standing in. Tibbetts then rejoined the band permanently.

Coverdale & Page - 1993 - Coverdale & Page

Coverdale•Page is an album by Whitesnake lead vocalist David Coverdale and former Led Zeppelin and London session guitarist Jimmy Page (as Coverdale•Page), released by Geffen Records on 15 March 1993. The album was recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, Criteria Studios in Miami, Highbrow Productions in Nevada and Abbey Road Studios, London. Recording commenced in the fall of 1991 and concluded in early 1992. It was produced by Jimmy Page, David Coverdale and Canadian record producer, Mike Fraser.

Adding to the Led Zeppelin sound of this album was the John Bonham-influence of former Montrose drummer Denny Carmassi.

According to David Coverdale, the traffic sign shown on the cover of the album signified "two roads joining to one road. Try to express unification or joining together."

The album reached No. 4 in the UK and No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 chart, while the first single released, "Pride and Joy", although barely making a dent on the pop charts, reached the No. 1 spot on the Album Rock Tracks chart for six weeks.

3rd Ear Experience- Incredible Good Fortune-2014

Καταπληκτή νεοψυχεδέλεια !!

3rd Ear Experience biography

3RD EAR EXPERIENCE is a new genuine space rock band recording musical improvisations in a little studio situated out in the highlands of Joshua Tree/Mojave Desert, just where some of the members live. The outfit includes Dug Pinnick of KING'S X fame, Robbi Robb of the African acid rock band TRIBE AFTER TRIBE and synth player Amritakripa, also inherently involved in Indian devotional music.

Three days of free form jams led on to the self-released debut album 'Peacock Black' which is comprised of four extended tracks. At times being courageously experimental they abandoned formal arrangements and allowed the music to flow in a cosmic sonic dialogue between fellow musicians and stargazers. The result is summing up trance-like and groovy excursions, Kosmische Musik in the Berlin School vein as well as dramatic and otherwordly moments.

Shortly after that Megaforce Records released another band album named 'Boi', this time featuring eight tunes with a more common song structure. 2013 - 2014 saw the band attracting favorable press internationally and they were also honored to open for the Swedish stoner band, the Truckfighters, on their 2013 USA tour. Recorded with a modified line up again their next album 'Incredible Good Fortune' came out in autumn 2014, consisting of new extended explorations.

Furthermore the band will be included in the upcoming feature documentary film about the history and legacy of the desert stoner rock music scene called 'Desert Age'. 3RD EAR EXPERIENCE certainly will please every fan of unbounded psychedelic and space rock music.
