Γιωργος Μπατης (Giorgos Mpatis) - συλλογή (collection)

Yiorgos Batis (Greek: Γιώργος Μπάτης, also Giorgos Batis) (1885 – 10 March 1967) was one of the first rebetes influential to rebetikomusic. His real name was Yiorgos Tsoros although he was known as Yiorgos Ampatis. He had a great love for music and musical instruments (bouzouki, baglamas, etc.).
Life and career

He was born in Methana in 1885 and moved to Piraeus when he was very young.

He served in the Greek army from 1912 to 1918. In the mid-1920s, he opened a music school called "Carmen". He opened a café named "Georges Baté" in 1931 and formed one of the most important scenes of rebetiko music. He continued to work as a quack-salesman, improvising drugs for painful teeth and other minor ailments. He kept a collection of many instruments and also used to name them. In 1933, Yiorgos Batis did his first sound-recording with bouzouki in Greece. In the 1930s, he dedicated himself solely to music and collaborated closely with, among others, Markos Vamvakaris in the rebetiko band ("kompania") called I Tetras i Xakousti tou Peiraios (Η τετράς η ξακουστή του Πειραιώς) --the Famous Quartet of Pireos. However, it did not light up the charts. He appeared in Alekos Sakelariou's film "Oi papatzides (Οι παπατζήδες)" (1954). He died in Piraeus on March 10, 1967.

Ο Γιώργος Μπάτης (πραγματικό όνομα: Γιώργος Τσώρος, 1885 - 10 Μαρτίου 1967), γνωστός και ως Γιώργος Αμπάτης, ήταν Έλληνας μουσικός. Ήταν ένας από τους πρώτους και σημαντικότερους μουσικούς του ρεμπέτικου καθώς επίσης και γνωστός μάγκας του Πειραιά. Είχε μεγάλη αγάπη για τη μουσική και διατηρούσε σημαντική συλλογή μουσικών οργάνων. Είχε πέντε μπουζούκια, δύο μπαγλαμάδες, ένα μισομπούζουκο, μια κιθάρα και μια ρομβία-λατέρνα.

Γεννήθηκε το 1885 στα Παλαιά Λουτρά του δήμου Μεθάνων και σε ηλικία 8 ετών μετακόμισε οικογενειακώς στον Πειραιά.

Στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ΄20 άνοιξε χoροδιδασκαλείο το οποίο ονομαζόταν «Κάρμεν». Εργάστηκε ακόμη ως πωλητής αυτοσχέδιων φαρμάκων κατά του πονόδοντου, περιπλανώμενος οδοντογιατρός, μικροπωλητής και ενεχυροδανειστής. Το 1931άνοιξε ένα καφενείο, το «Ζώρζ Μπατέ», το οποίο αποτέλεσε ένα από τα λίκνα του ρεμπέτικου. Στο καφενείο του σύχναζε και ο ποιητής Ναπολέων Λαπαθιώτης.

Την δεκαετία του ΄30 ασχολήθηκε επαγγελματικά με τη μουσική και συνεργάστηκε στενά, με τον Μάρκο Βαμβακάρη, τον Στράτο Παγιουμτζή και τον Ανέστο Δελιά στη ρεμπέτικη κομπανία «Η τετράς η ξακουστή του Πειραιώς». Το 1933 ο Γιώργος Μπάτης κάνει τις πρώτες ηχογραφήσεις με μπουζούκι στην Ελλάδα. Ωστόσο δεν άφησε μεγάλη δισκογραφία (μόλις 17 τραγούδια), διότι όπως και πολλοί άλλοι μεγάλοι ρεμπέτες της εποχής (Βαγγέλης Παπάζογλου, Ανέστος Δελιάς, Γιοβάν Τσαούς κ.α.) σταμάτησε να ηχογραφεί το 1937 επειδή αρνούνταν να υποβάλλεται στην λογοκρισία από το καθεστώς του Ιωάννη Μεταξά.

Πέθανε στις 10 Μαρτίου το 1967 και θάφτηκε αγκαλιά με τον αγαπημένο του μπαγλαμά, όπως ο ίδιος είχε ζητήσει.

Kawir - Exilasmos (2017)

Therthonax (a.k.a. Mentor) formed the band and with the help of Stefan Necroabyssious and Eskarth the Dark One recorded a track which was released as a split 7" with Sigh by Cacophonous Records rec.
Drummer Nikos Samakouris (aka Vriareos) joined and "To Cavirs" mini-LP was recorded in '95, and later released the "To Cavirs" CD, which had 3 extra tracks. Participated on the 1997 tribute to Bathory CD ''Hellas Salutes the Vikings'' with the song ''Sadist'', which is the only recording with Iapetos 666 on vocals so far.
In 2013 the band played a live gig for their 20th anniversary in Athens (Kyttaro Club). Ravenlord Wampyri Draconium and Acherontas v.p.9 did guest vocals on this show.

In 1999 Therthonax and Diavelgenus a.k.a. Archemoros changed their names.

The band name can be seen also as ΚΑΒΕΙΡΟΣ due to its Greek spelling. In 2007 Mentor created a folk project named ΚΑΒΕΙΡΟΣ.

In Greek mythology, the Cabeiri, Cabiri or Kabiri[1][pronunciation?] (Ancient Greek: Κάβειροι, Kábeiroi) were a group of enigmatic chthonicdeities. They were worshiped in a mystery cult closely associated with that of Hephaestus, centered in the north Aegean islands of Lemnosand possibly Samothrace—at the Samothrace temple complex—and at Thebes.[2] In their distant origins the Cabeiri and the Samothracian gods may include pre-Greek elements,[3] or other non-Greek elements, such as Hittite, Thracian, proto-Etruscan[4] or Phrygian. The Lemniancult was always local to Lemnos, but the Samothracian mystery cult spread rapidly throughout the Greek world during the Hellenistic period, eventually initiating Romans.

The ancient sources disagree about whether the deities of Samothrace were Cabeiri or not; and the accounts of the two cults differ in detail. But the two islands are close to each other, at the northern end of the Aegean, and the cults are at least similar, and neither fits easily into the Olympic pantheon: the Cabeiri were given a mythic genealogy as sons of Hephaestus and Cabeiro.[5] The accounts of the Samothracian gods, whose names were secret, differ in the number and sexes of the gods: usually between two and four, some of either sex. The number of Cabeiri also varies, with some accounts citing four (often a pair of males and a pair of females), and some even more, such as a tribe or whole race of Cabeiri, often presented as all male.[6]

The Cabeiri were also worshipped at other sites in the vicinity, including Seuthopolis in Thrace and various sites in Asia Minor. According to Strabo, Cabeiri are most honored in Imbros and Lemnos but also in other cities too


Myth

In myth, the Cabeiri bear many similarities to other fabulous races, such as the Telchines of Rhodes, the Cyclopes, the Dactyls, the Korybantes, and the Kuretes. These different groups were often confused or identified with one another since many of them, like the Cyclopes and Telchines, were also associated with metallurgy.

Diodorus Siculus said of the Cabeiri that they were Idaioi dactyloi ("Idaian Dactyls"). The Idaian Dactyls were a race of divine beings associated with the Mother Goddess and with Mount Ida, a mountain in Phrygia sacred to the goddess. Hesychius of Alexandria wrote that the Cabeiri were karkinoi ("crabs", in modern Greek: "Καβούρια", kavouria). The Cabeiri as Karkinoi were apparently thought of as amphibious beings (again recalling the Telchines). They had pincers instead of hands, which they used as tongs (Greek: karkina) in metalworking.

It has been suggested by Comyns Beaumont[21] that the Orphic mysteries may have had their origins with the Cabeiri.

Οι Κάβειροι (ή Κάβιροι στη Βοιωτία) ήταν θεότητες αρχαίας Ελληνικής μυστηριακής λατρείας η οποία πρωτοεμφανίζεται στη Λήμνο, την Ίμβρο, τη Σαμοθράκη και τη Θήβα (ή πιο συγκεκριμένα, αρχικά τουλάχιστον, σε περιοχή της Βοιωτίας λίγο δυτικά της Θήβας) αλλά αργότερα επεκτείνεται και αλλού (Μικρά Ασία, Μακεδονία, Θράκη, υπόλοιπο Αιγαίο).


Ιστορία

Οι Κάβειροι συχνά, ήδη από την αρχαιότητα, ταυτίζονται και με τους "Μεγάλους Θεούς" των Μυστηρίων της Σαμοθράκης. Θεωρούνταν γενικώς κακοποιά πνεύματα, κακοί δαίμονες που από τα βάθη της γης και από το βυθό της μητέρας τους της θάλασσας εξακόντιζαν φωτιά και τράνταζαν τη γη. Σε αυτούς αποδιδόταν οι σεισμοί και οι πυρκαγιές. Επίσης ήταν κοντοί στο ύψος, είχαν μεγάλα γεννητικά όργανα και ήταν υπερφυσικά πνεύματα που εκπροσωπούσαν την υπόγεια φωτιά και τις μεταλλευτικές εργασίες. Ο Ηρόδοτος ισχυρίζεται πως ήταν γιοι του Ήφαιστου και πως του αντικαθιστούσαν τους χαλκουργούς Κύκλωπες. Ο Φερεκύδης προσθέτει ότι μητέρα τους ήταν η Καβείρη, κόρη του Πρωτέα. Σύμφωνα με άλλη παράδοση, ήταν παιδιά του Δία και της Ηλέκτρας, δηλαδή της φωτεινής φλόγας.

Ενώ ο Βίκερ και ο Μάρεϋ δέχονται πως το όνομα είναι ελληνικό και προέρχεται από το ρήμα καίω, πολλοί εξακολουθούν να θεωρούν την προέλευσή τους άγνωστη, πιθανώς μη ελληνική και συχνά έχουν διατυπωθεί θεωρίες προελληνικής[1][2] ή ανατολικής[3] προέλευσης: το όνομα Κάβειρος, σύμφωνα με τον Γκρόουτ, προέρχεται από το σημιτικό καβιρίμ"ισχυρός, μεγάλος, δυνατός".

Οι Κάβειροι της Θήβας αναφέρονται σε αφιερωματικές επιγραφές ως "Κάβιρος" και "Παις" (γιος του Κάβιρου). Σύμφωνα με τον Παυσανία, η Καβείρια Δήμητρα ξεκίνησε τις τελετές των Καβείρων της Θήβας ως δώρο προς τον Προμηθέα, ο οποίος ήταν ένας από τους Κάβειρους και το γιο του, τον Αιτναίο.[4] Ο ίδιος αναφέρει αλλού πως ο Αθηναίος Μέθαπος, αφού επανοργάνωσε τα μυστήρια στην Ανδανία της Μεσσηνίας, ίδρυσε τα μυστήρια των Καβείρων της Θήβας.[5]

Για τους Κάβειρους της Λήμνου ο Ακουσίλαος αναφέρει ότι ο Ήφαιστος και η θεά Καβειρώ γέννησαν τον Καδμίλο (ή Κασμίλο ή Κάμιλλο), ο οποίος γέννησε τους τρεις Κάβειρους, που με τη σειρά τους γέννησαν τρεις Καβειρίδες νύμφες.[6] Το σύμβολο των τριών Λήμνιων Καβείρων ήταν η λαβίδα και το σφυρί του μεταλλουργού.

Μεγάλοι Θεοί της Σαμοθράκης

Στο ιερό των Μεγάλων Θεών στη Σαμοθράκη οι "Θεοί Μεγάλοι" ή "Θεοί" δεν αναφέρονται ποτέ ως Κάβειροι, ωστόσο ο Στησίμβροτος ο Θάσιος[7] και ο Ηρόδοτος (ο οποίος έμμεσα αναφέρει ότι ήταν μύστης ο ίδιος) [8] ταυτίζουν τους δύο. Ο περιηγητής Μνασέας δίνει τα ονόματά τους ως Αξίερος, Αξιόκερσα και Αξιόκερσος, τους οποίους ταυτίζει αντίστοιχα με τους Δήμητρα, Περσεφόνη και Άδη ενώ ο σχολιαστής του Μνασέα προσθέτει ένα τέταρτο, το Καδμίλο τον οποίο ταυτίζει με τον Ερμή.[9]

Στα Αργοναυτικά του Απολλώνιου Ρόδιου, οι Αργοναύτες αποβιβάζονται στη Σαμοθράκη και μυώνται στα μυστήρια ώστε να πλεύσουν με ασφάλεια υπό την προστασία των Καβείρων

1000mods - Repeated Exposure To (2016)

1000mods is a stoner rock band from Chiliomodi, Greece, formed in 2006.[1] The name of the group is a pun linked to the village in which they were formed, as "a thousand" is pronounced "chillia" in Greek. Their main music influences include bands such as Black Sabbath, Colour Haze, Kyuss and MC5.
“… high sound levels (more than 80 decibels) might cause permanent impairment of hearing”, is actually the rest of the phrase that completes the title of the latest 1000mods album. With their third full-length, Repeated Exposure To…, Greece’s 1000mods affirm their place at the head of the pack of European heavy rock and roll. I mean that without qualification. Not just Greek heavy, but Europe as a whole.

Nazareth - Close Enough For Rock 'n' Roll (1976)

 Nazareth are a Scottish hard rock band formed in 1968, that had several hits in the United Kingdom, as well as in several other West European countries in the early 1970s, and established an international audience with their 1975 album Hair of the Dog, which featured their hits "Hair of the Dog" and a cover of the ballad "Love Hurts". The band continues to record and tour.

The Godz - Nothing is Sacred (1979)

The Godz' second album, "Nothing Is Sacred", was released in 1979 with very little label support. Truly one of the greatest of ignored albums of all time, The Godz' Nothing Is Sacred is one of the best from it's era of late 70's pure rock and roll. Everything about it oozes the trademarks of what made American bands of that time so important, and provided the missing link between all out success and total obscurity.
The addon songs from their second LP Nothing Is Sacred doesn't have the same driving rock sound as the debut, but is still a solid add with Hey Mama and I Just Want To Go Home. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to Rock to the best the late 70's had to offer.

Agnes Buen Garnas - Draumkvedet - [1984 NOR]

Agnes Buen Garnås (born 23 October 1946) is a Norwegian folk singer from the county of Telemark. She comes from a famous musical family from the town of Jondal, and is known particularly for her singing of ancient unaccompanied Norwegian ballads, as well as her updated arrangements of these songs in collaboration with the Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek on the ECM album Rosensfole.

American Blues - Is Here (1968)

American Blues were an American 1960s Texas-based garage rock band, who played a psychedelic style of blues rock music influenced by the 13th Floor Elevators. They are most notable for including two future members of the band ZZ Top in their ranks, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.[1] From 1966 to 1968, they played the Dallas-Fort Worth-Houston circuit and headlined in three clubs all called "The Cellar", in Dallas at clubs such as "The Walrus" on Mockingbird Lane, and in Houston at "Love Street Light Circus Feel Good Machine" on Allen's Landing, as late as 1968.

Around 1968 the band (the two Hill brothers and Beard) decided to leave the Dallas–Fort Worth area, relocating to Houston. At this time, however, guitarist Rocky Hill wanted to focus on "straight blues", while his brother Dusty wanted the band to rock more. Rocky left the band, and the remaining two members joined the recently formed ZZ Top.

Rocky Hill continued to tour around Texas, and elsewhere, becoming one of a number of guitarists well-known within the state for their blues guitar prowess, such as Rocky Athis and Charlie Sexton. In this role, his playing in Austin was said[by whom?] to have been an influence on guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan's formative years, as well. He sometimes referred to himself as "The Anti-Clapton", and one writer with the Houston Press called Rocky "perhaps the wildest and scariest – both onstage and off – of all the Texas white-boy blues guitarists

Ζωή Τάχα - ΗΧΟΓΡΑΦΗΣΗ ΠΡΟΒΑΣ (2013)

                                                       Δυο κόσμοι διαφορετικοί


Η πράξη της - παράνομη κι οπωσδήποτε κατακριτέα - από κείνες που, ουσιαστικά δεν αφήνουν καν ίχνος στο ποινικό μητρώο. Η ευθιξία της, όμως, υπερβολική, την οδήγησε στην αυτοκτονία.
Η 34χρονη Ζωή Τάχα από τη Λάρισα, εργαζόταν ως καθαρίστρια σε ιδιωτικό συνεργείο καθαρισμού στο πολυκατάστημα "Κόντινεντ". Το βράδυ, μετά τη δουλιά, σε μια σακούλα που κουβαλούσαν μαζί με μια συναδέλφισσά της, οι υπεύθυνοι ασφαλείας του πολυκαταστήματος βρήκαν μερικά ψώνια - αξίας μόλις 60.000 δραχμών - που δεν είχαν πληρωθεί. Κρατήθηκε, όλη τη νύχτα στην Αστυνομική Διεύθυνση Λάρισας και την επόμενη θα οδηγούνταν στον εισαγγελέα.

Η Ζωή ένιωθε ντροπή. "Πο πο πο ρεζιλίκι!", έλεγε συνεχώς στη συναδέλφισσά της. Δεν είχε ξανααπασχολήσει την αστυνομία. Και τώρα... κρατούμενη, δακτυλικά αποτυπώματα, εισαγγελέας.
Οι τύψεις για την πράξη της να πληγώνουν την ψυχή, να θολώνουν το μυαλό. Και ξαφνικά, όρμησε στο ανοιχτό παράθυρο. Ρίχτηκε από τον τέταρτο όροφο του κτιρίου της Αστυνομίας στο κενό. Και βρήκε το θάνατο. Πίσω της άφησε τον σύζυγο και τρία ανήλικα παιδιά.

Εκλεψε, ναι. Ποιος ξέρει τι κίνησε το χέρι της; Ισως η κακιά ώρα, ίσως η ανέχεια. Μα, για 60.000 δραχμές - αναρωτιούνται πολλοί - είναι δυνατόν να φτάσει, ένας άνθρωπος, στην αυτοκτονία; Ναι, υπάρχουν άνθρωποι με ευθιξία στη μουντή εποχή μας. Βεβαίως, υπερβολική ευθιξία, στην περίπτωση της Ζωής. Και, εν πολλοίς, ακατανόητη.
Αυτοί είναι, συνήθως, οι φτωχοί άνθρωποι, που, μερικές φορές, αναγκάζονται να κλέψουν μικροπράγματα, που τους λείπουν και δεν έχουν την οικονομική δυνατότητα να τ' αγοράσουν.
Αυτών η συνείδηση εξεγείρεται όταν, μια παρόρμηση της στιγμής, τους βγάζει από τον τίμιο δρόμο της ζωής τους.
Η Ζωή πέταξε τη ζωή της διότι θεώρησε ότι επλήγη καίρια η αξιοπρέπειά της. Οπωσδήποτε, ακραία η ενέργειά της, που εξηγείται μεν, αλλά επ' ουδενί δεν μπορεί να γίνει αποδεκτή.

Σκέφτεται, όμως, κανείς πόσοι και ποιοι σε τούτη τη χώρα ζουν αποκλειστικά από κλεψιές - και μάλιστα δισεκατομμυρίων - κι όχι μόνο δεν αυτοκτονούν από ντροπή και ευθιξία, αλλά επαίρονται για τις πράξεις τους και ίστανται στην κορυφή της οικονομικής, πολιτικής, αλλά και της κοινωνικής πυραμίδας.
Πρωθυπουργοί, υπουργοί κατηγορήθηκαν για μεγάλες κλεψιές και συνέχισαν να κατέχουν ύψιστα αξιώματα. Βιομήχανοι, εφοπλιστές, μεγαλέμποροι κλέβουν καθημερινά το δημόσιο πλούτο, τους εργαζόμενους, το λαό κι εντούτοις απολαμβάνουν της αναγνώρισης και της αρωγής των κυβερνήσεων και του κράτους.

Η Ζωή Τάχα δεν ήταν ούτε πρωθυπουργός, ούτε βιομήχανος. Ηταν μια απλή, ταπεινή καθαρίστρια. Με κοινωνική συνείδηση τιμιότητας. Και στο πρώτο, αναπάντεχο και μικρό παράπτωμα έναντι της τιμιότητάς της, η υπερβολική ευθιξία της τη σκότωσε.
Δυο κόσμοι - αυτός των ισχυρών του χρήματος και της εξουσίας κι εκείνος των εργαζομένων - εντελώς διαφορετικοί. Ο πρώτος έχει ως σύμβουλό του την κλεψιά. Για τον δεύτερο η κλεψιά - ακόμα και ως σπάνια εξαίρεση μιας τίμιας ζωής - αποτελεί όνειδος...

Το γκρουπ ''Ζωή Τάχα'' δημιουργήθηκε στα μέσα του 2012 στο Αιγάλεω, λίγο καιρό μετά από το τέλος της πορείας του γκρουπ ''Ωχρά Σπειροχαίτη'' (δες εδώ: ΩΧΡΑ ΣΠΕΙΡΟΧΑΙΤΗ), καθώς κάποια από τα μέλη του, όπως ο τραγουδιστής, αποτελούν και μέλη του νέου γκρουπ.

Το όνομα του γκρουπ προέρχεται από την 34χρονη Ζωή Τάχα από τη Λάρισα, η οποία εργαζόταν ως καθαρίστρια σε ιδιωτικό συνεργείο καθαρισμού, και λόγο κάποιας μικροκλοπής όρμησε στο ανοιχτό παράθυρο από τον τέταρτο όροφο του κτιρίου της Αστυνομίας στο κενό όπου και βρήκε το θάνατο.

Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses (1978)

Heavy Horses is the eleventh studio album by British progressive rock band Jethro Tull, released on 10 April 1978. It is considered the second album in a trilogy of folk-rock albums by Jethro Tull, although folk music's influence is evident on a great number of Jethro Tull releases. The album abandons much of the folk lyrical content typical of the previous studio album, Songs from the Wood (1977), in exchange for a more realist perspective on the changing world - as a clear mention to the title track, the album is dedicated to the "indigenous working ponies and horses of Great Britain". Likewise, the band sound is harder and tighter. The third album in the folk-rock trilogy is Stormwatch (1979).

Def Leppard - Pyromania-1983

Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1977 in Sheffield as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. Since 1992, the band has consisted of Joe Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Rick Allen (drums), Phil Collen (lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (rhythm and lead guitar, backing vocals). This is the band's longest lasting line-up.


Pyromania is the third studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released on 20 January 1983. The first album to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis, Pyromania was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The album was a shift away from the band's heavy metal roots towards more radio-friendly glam rock and hard rock, finding massive mainstream success. Pyromania charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200,[5] No. 4 on the Canadian RPM Album chart and No. 18 on the UK Albums Chart[6] selling over ten million copies in the US, thus being certified diamond by the RIAA

Will-O-The-Wisp-Ceremony Of Innocence (2004)

Will-O-The-Wisp biography
Will-O-the-Wisp is a band that comes from Athens, Greece. They were formed in 1997 as a sextet (guitar, bass, drums, flute, keyboards and vocals) and play Progressive Rock featuring a signifcant psychedelic orientation. Their music very much resembles the sound of the bands of the '70's, especially those of Camel and Caravan. Their lyrics are in English and balancing between fantasy and reality.

On 1st of January 1999 they released their first self titled album on CD digipack and 180gr vinyl with a beautiful double cover. This first record is an excellent example of how a band can play nice melodic Progressive Rock in our days. On the cover of this record writes 'this record is dedicated to the new born child and J.R.R Tolkien'. With the beautiful 'Elbereth' there's also featured a song inspired from the world of Tolkien. The album gained positive reviews from the Greek music press, and it was characterised as 'Album of the Month' twice.

On January 2001 they released their second album with the title 'Second Sight'. Again in a very beautiful digipack (book size) CD, and a limited edition of 230gr vinyl record with a double cover (800 copies). Although they maintained the same style in their music, this records compositions are a bit weaker in comparison with their first record. But the production is better, and it succeeded a few sales in Europe. In March 2002 they released a single including Billie Holiday's cover version of 'God Bless The Child', again in limited edition.

While the band was working on their 3rd album, they set up their own music company Wow Records, and under its label they released their new record 'Ceremony Of Innocence'. This album had the best production of all three, and it was released as digipack CD with a triple cover, and on limited edition vinyl (800 copies) with a triple cover as well. 2005 saw a line-up change and they continued as a quartet.

February 2007 they released their 4th album 'A Gift In Your Dreams'. Again a very expensive production. The CD is at a book size pack with hard cover and a 20 pages booklet. The vinyl record is again limited edition (800 copies) with a double cover. Here their sound has changed, as the band seemed to find a new approach to their music style.

Paul Roland - A Cabinet Of Curiosities-1987

    

Paul Roland (born 6 September 1959 in Kent, England), is a singer-songwriter, author, journalist and paranormal researcher.

Since the release of his first (shared) single "Oscar Automobile" in 1979, Roland has been spinning his tales against a backdrop of gothic rock, psychedelic pop, folk and, occasionally, baroque strings. His character creations include a Regency magistrate, various 19th Century murderers, a retired executioner, an opium addict, and an entire court of medieval grotesques.

Paul has been called "the male Kate Bush" by one-time label-mate Robyn Hitchcock, and "The Lord Byron of Rock" by influential French music magazine Les Inrockuptibles.[citation needed]

“Paul Roland has remained a cherished figure on the gothic rock and psychedelic pop periphery for 30 years…a treasury of detail and eloquence…Roland's impeccable narratives (and) formal, baroque instrumentation…creates the antiquated yet timeless ambience his songs deserve" (Marco Rossi, Record Collector, May 2010).

Μπιθικώτσης Γρηγόρης -Τα Αυθεντικά

Grigoris Bithikotsis (Greek Γρηγόρης Μπιθικώτσης, pronounced [ɣriˈɣoris biθiˈkot͜sis]; December 11, 1922 - April 7, 2005) was a popular Greek folk singer/songwriter with a career spanning five decades.

Biography
Bithikotsis was born in Peristeri, Athens, in 1922 to a poor family. He became interested in music at an early age, and acquired a bouzouki as soon as he was able. At first, he had to hide the instrument at a friend's house and practice in secret, as his father disapproved of the new rembetiko style that had captured his son's interest.

He met composer Mikis Theodorakis in 1959 and the two collaborated producing folk songs. Bithikotsis composed over 80 songs, including: Stu Belami to ouzeri and Toy Votanikou o magas. He possessed a rich singing voice with which he performed his own compositions and those of Theodorakis, who frequently chose his friend Grigoris to perform his masterpieces. The two contributed greatly to the then-emerging laika style of Greek music.

A leftist, he was exiled to the island of Makronisos in the 1950s during the reign of King Paul.

Throughout his life, Bithikotsis performed frequent concerts at numerous venues, including one in Athens upon the occasion of his eightieth birthday. He died in Athens, in 2005, following three months of hospitalization. His funeral was attended by thousands, including representatives of all the Greek political parties.

Frank Zapp a- Hot Rats (1969)

Hot Rats is the second solo album by Frank Zappa. It was released in October 1969. Five of the six songs are instrumental; the other, "Willie the Pimp", features vocals by Captain Beefheart. It was Zappa's first recording project after the dissolution of the original Mothers of Invention. In his original sleeve notes Zappa described the album as "a movie for your ears".

Because Hot Rats largely consists of instrumental jazz-influenced compositions with extensive soloing, the music sounds very different from earlier Zappa albums, which featured satirical vocal performances with extensive use of musique concrète and editing. Multi-instrumentalist Ian Underwood is the only member of the Mothers to appear on the album and was the primary musical collaborator. Other featured musicians were bassists Max Bennett and Shuggie Otis; drummers John Guerin, Paul Humphrey and Ron Selico; and electric violinists Don "Sugarcane" Harris and Jean-Luc Ponty.

This was the first Frank Zappa album recorded on 16-track equipment and one of the first albums to use this technology. Machines with 16 individual tracks allow for much more flexibility in multi-tracking and overdubbing than the professional 4 and 8-track reel-to-reel tape recorders that were standard in 1969.

Zappa dedicated the album to his newborn son, Dweezil. In February 2009, Dweezil's tribute band to his father, Zappa Plays Zappa, won a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for their rendition of "Peaches en Regalia"

In the Q & Mojo Classic Special Edition Pink Floyd & The Story of Prog Rock, the album came number 13 in its list of "40 Cosmic Rock Albums".It was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Running Wild -Pile of Skulls 1992

Pile of Skulls is the seventh studio album by Running Wild, released in 1992. It is their last album with guitarist Axel Morgan. It is the first album almost completely dominated by songwriting from band leader Rolf Kasparek but remains a fan favourite. The album has sold over 350,000 copies worldwide.

The song "Jennings' Revenge" tells about the exploits of pirate Henry Jennings.

The lyrics of "Treasure Island" are based on the book of the same title by 19th century author Robert Louis Stevenson.

Virgin Steele -Noble Savage 1985

Virgin Steele is an American heavy metal band from New York City, originally formed in 1981.

The band released a few career highlights albums (Noble Savage, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part I, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell Part II and Invictus). In recent years, they have enriched their sound with elements of musical theatre, progressive and symphonic metal, developing and writing projects such as the Metal Opera "The House of Atreus" (based on Oresteia and the Greek myth related to the Atreides) in 1999/2000 and the soundtrack for an imaginary movie Visions of Eden (A Barbaric Romantic Movie of the Mind) aka "The Lilith Project" (based on the Sumerian legend of Lilith) in 2006.


Noble Savage is the third studio album of the American heavy metal band Virgin Steele, released in 1985 by Cobra Records. The album was reissued in 1997 on CD by Noise Records with six bonus tracks. The remastered edition of 2008 by Dockyard 1 added two other extra tracks. In May 2011, the album was reissued once more by Steamhammer Records, a subsidiary of SPV with the same track list as the 1997 release, but with an added bonus CD containing 13 additional tracks.[5]

Before the recording of Noble Savage, original guitarist Jack Starr resigned from the band and was replaced by Edward Pursino, an old friend of DeFeis, whose guitar playing immediately fit very well with Virgin Steele's music and style. Pursino's contribution came also in the form of new musical ideas and compositions, and he is still a mainstay in Virgin Steele's line-up. The band's frontman David DeFeis considers this album one of the most important in the history of the band.[6]

Noble Savage was the first album where the band was completely satisfied with its music and sound. It is also the first album on which the current musical style of the band is fully manifested, containing grandiose compositions with multi-layered keyboard sound and more sophisticated arrangements. Noble Savage has become one of the most popular Virgin Steele albums and it includes the songs "We Rule the Night" and "Noble Savage", which the band still plays in concert.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Odyssey (1988)

Yngwie Johan Malmsteen (/ˈɪŋveɪ ˈmɑːlmstiːn/ ING-vay MAHLM-steen; born Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck; 30 June 1963) is a Swedish guitarist and bandleader. Malmsteen first became known in the 1980s for his neoclassical metal playing style in heavy metal. In 2009, Time magazine rated Malmsteen as among the 10 greatest electric guitar players of all time.


Odyssey is the fourth studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, released on 8 April 1988 through Polydor Records. The album reached No. 40 on the US Billboard 200 and remained on that chart for eighteen weeks as well as reaching the top 50 in five other countries.As of 2017 it remains Malmsteen's highest-charting release on the Billboard 200.

Renaissance - Scheherazade And Other Stories (U.k. 1975)

Renaissance are an English progressive rock band, best known for their 1978 UK top 10 hit "Northern Lights" and progressive rock classics like "Carpet of the Sun", "Mother Russia", and "Ashes Are Burning". They developed a unique sound, combining a female lead vocal with a fusion of classical, folk, rock, and jazz influences.[1] Characteristic elements of the Renaissance sound are Annie Haslam's wide vocal range, prominent piano accompaniment, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser, and versatile drum work. The band created a significant following in the northeast United States in the 70s, and that region remains their strongest fan base.
