The Collectors were formed in Vancouver, Canada in 1961. They later went on to tour US west coast venues with their psychedelic arrangements adding some soulful lyrics.
The Collectors were involved with Electric Prunes producer 'Dave Hassinger' and they worked both as original and session musicians. Their desire to record more original material meant the Prunes were reformed with a completely new line-up to record 'Release of an Oath' with David Axelrod.
During this period, The Collectors also provided the soundtrack music to three Canadian based films - Don't Let the Angels Fall (1968) along with David Hassinge and Canada the Land / Canada, pays vaste (1969)
